ACTS

Inspired by the Acts of the Apostles 2:42-47, ACTS is an acronym for Adoration, Community, Theology, and Service.  These four themes serve as the pillars of an amazing weekend retreat.  Come to find out what you have been missing, or to deepen your love of God, our Catholic Faith, and the community which is a part of it!

Women's ACTS: October 10-13, 2013 -- “Stand up and go, your faith has saved you” (Luke 17:19)

Our St. Clare retreats begin Thursday evening around 5:00 p.m., and end with the 11:00 a.m. Mass at St. Clare on Sunday.  The retreat takes place at the Christian Renewal Center (CRC) in Dickinson.  The cost is $210, but financial assistance is available to those in need.

I've been on ACTS.  Now what??  Consider joining the Retreat Team!

Once you’ve been on the retreat, considering serving on the Retreat Team!  Barbara, the retreat Director, invites all ACTS sisters to consider the following invitation to be on the team:

For those of you who have teamed before, you are well aware of the immense blessings that are received from serving in this way and the close relationships that are developed with your ACTS sisters.  For those who have never teamed, be assured that being on a retreat team has been described as being somewhat of a “glimpse of what heaven must be like”.  Coming together as willing servants, we continue to receive God’s abundant grace, His blessings and a greater love for Him and for each other.

Please pray whether God might be calling you to join us in continuing this powerful movement of the Holy Spirit.   Please don’t consider whether you are capable...as Blessed Mother Teresa said “God does not choose the qualified; He qualifies the chosen”.

We will meet on Tuesday evenings, beginning June 25th at 6:00 in the parish hall.  We will have dinner then our meeting, which will end by 8:20.  For those who are able to stay, we will then proceed to the church for the Rosary, asking our Blessed Mother to intercede for us and for the retreatants.

If you are interested, please obtain a copy of the team registration form from the ACTS Yahoo Group and return it to Barbara or Linda, the Co-Director, no later than April 5, 2013.  We will have a discernment meeting on Tuesday, April 9th at 7:00 in the parish hall to discuss the retreat and answer any questions that you might have.

Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius

The Spiritual Exercises are a weekend silent retreat with spiritual talks and time for personal meditation in silence.  The spiritual conferences are preached by the priests of Miles Christi, according to the method and the principles of St. Ignatius of Loyola.  Apart from the conferences and time for prayer, each day there will also be Holy Mass, Holy Rosary, and opportunity for confessions.  The retreats will start on Friday at 4:00 pm and conclude on Sunday at 5:00 pm.

As experience has shown throughout the centuries, the Spiritual Exercises have proven to be an excellent means of conversion and sanctification. In addition, the Magisterium of the Church has commended them numerous times.

St. Clare Silent Retreat

Mother Theresa said, “If you sincerely want to learn to pray, keep silent.  In the silence of the heart, God speaks.”  Why not take a break from the stimuli of this world for less than 24 hours—from Friday at 7:00 p.m. to Saturday at 3:00 p.m.—to let God speak to your heart?  Join other St. Clare parishioners for a mini-retreat that will include short talks on different types of silent prayer, group prayer times, and plenty of time to walk the beautiful grounds of the Villa de Matel, or spend time in some of the interesting prayer rooms inside.

The St. Clare Silent Retreat is offered once per year, usually in January or February.  If you missed it this year, please consider joining us next year!
